SYNTHESIS IX

We are thrilled to announce the return of our Choreographer Showcase, SYNTHESIS IX, taking place at the beautiful Brea Curtis Theatre on March 26 and 27 at 8:00 p.m.

We are now accepting applications for the ninth installment of SYNTHESIS, extending an invitation to choreographers and dance companies whose work demonstrates a unique, innovative, and compelling voice within the contemporary dance community.

Each evening of SYNTHESIS will feature a different program of choreographers and dance companies, offering audiences two unique performances and providing selected artists with the opportunity to share their work with a diverse and engaged audience.

Submission Guidelines

  • Completed works are strongly recommended for submission.

  • Submitted works are recommended to be no longer than 8 minutes in length.

  • A $25 non-refundable application fee is required for each piece submitted. The fee must be submitted at the time of application for the submission to be considered.

  • If selected, an additional $75 production fee will be required per artist/company, regardless of the number of pieces presented.

Audience Choice Award

Each evening, audience members will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite work. An Audience Choice Award of $250 will be presented to the selected choreographer/company each night.

Application Deadline

All applications and supporting materials must be submitted by October 1st, 2026.

Selection Process

A panel of adjudicators will review all submissions and select the works to be presented in the 2027 showcase. Selected artists and companies will be notified on October 15th,  2026.

Technical Rehearsals

Technical rehearsals will be held on Thursday evening, March 25, and Friday morning/afternoon, March 26. Please note that selected works will be limited to five lighting cues, including lights up and lights out.
